Democratic Forces Win Civil War

Update on the Civil War in Orteil Mauvais

The Regency has finally reclaimed the island and peace is returning to the people, we can now only pray that it shall last long enough to heal the wounds of our people. We owe you a debt of gratitude for your aid, in the future should you ever require aid we shall give that aid to you. May peace and prosperity smile upon both our nations.

More News From Orteil Mauvais

Well, our Lord has managed to escape safely, and we are mustering a resistance. We've so far managed to claim back parts of the capital city, and the Franc region in the Southern Hills from the operatives of Salka. We're managing to expose them for what they are as best as possible, if you could perhaps find a way to cut off communication from Orteil Mauvais then we could move swiftly to remove them without giving Salka a justifiable cause for a frontal attack.

Update:

thank you very much, I'm afraid our former lord has fallen but the young Lord Mauvais has taken power. The Regency is now working on a frontal assault on the northern shore while operatives deal with the traitors in the capitol. Once again we wish to thank you and pray that once the island is back under our control that we may find a way to repay your for your kindness.

Suggestions to Darke Seattle On the Revolt

Cascadia
Before we make our decision, the Cascadian State Dept. wihes to know the following: Why did they try to overthrow the current governemnt? Are there any problems in Darke Seattle? How did they plan todo this? We are opposed to the death penalty, however we still want to knowwhat happened.

We propose that you exile them.

Can you not publicly execute them?

Orteil Mauvais
HisGrand High Selka understands that the death penalty is a disputed form ofpunishment, however he feels that it is the only acceptable punishment forheinous crimes such as this obvious act of treason. While He supports theuse of the death penalty for many serious crimes, He feels that not settingan example on these traitors will prove disasterous for you and your people.Thank you, and may your reign be long and fruitful. ~Office of the GrandHigh Selka

Re: Crimes of the convicted

Those being held pending sentencing have been convicted of high treason, conspiracy to assassinate members of the Board of Directors, to include CEO Katherine Darke, and illegal possession of explosive substances.
These are the crimes for which they are held responsible, and the Darke Seattle Security Police feel that the reason they decided to commit these acts is irrelevant to the current discussion among the nations of the Pacific Northwest.
They have been tried in a court of law with competent legal council, before a jury of their peers, and by a judge of good standing with the Department of Justice of the DSSP.
The purpose of our inquiry to other nations was not to draw attention to their crimes, but to assist in determining their final conviction.
Thank you for your time.

To exile them would be foolhardy. The Grand High Selka advises strongly against such an act. If they are sent into exile then they will conspire further against you and may use the people against you. The death penalty must be enacted, for if they are exiled and return to be killed, they will be martyrs, if you wait for awhile, and show the reluctant necessity of their deaths, then the people will sympathise with you for your reluctance and they will not die in a glorious blaze of martyrdom. Thank you.

Re: Convicted traitors

The Board of Directors finds itself in agreement with the Grand High Selka of Orteil Mauvais. Expatriation of the convicted will only allow them to further conspire against us, and possibly gain allies to their false cause. This is unacceptable. As such, CEO Katherine Darke has lifted her stay of sentence.
The convicted will be publicly executed as punishment for their crimes, and as an example to all who may consider further treasonous action against Darke Seattle.
We thank you for your advice during this time, and look forward to further correspondence and business with you in the future.

Re: Addendum to previous message

Public execution has been deemed necessary, as the Darke Seattle Security Police must make an example of the condemned. Carrying out their death sentence in a public venue will show all Citizens, Minor through Platinum, that treason, as well as other high crimes against company and state, will not be tolerated, and will be punished harshly.

We look forward to further correspondence and business with you in the future.

Alliances With Other Regions?

I have proposed alliances with other regions. This is in case there is an invasion of our region, we can call on oter regions to help defend us. This may be expanded into a interregional government with time.

The regions I have contacted about this are:

Stargate (the UN delegate said that they wouldn't accept it now)
Stargate Atlantis (Maybe)
System Lords (Accepted)
Tacoma (They said maybe)
Empire of Independent States (they said maybe)
Pegasus Galaxy (They said maybe)
British Columbia (Maybe)
Seattle (I haven't heard back from them)
San Francisco
San Francisco Bay Area
Vancouver
Tsawwassen
Columbia
Washington

Re: Death Penalty

The Darke Seattle Security Police have just uncovered an attempted plot to overthrow the Board of Directors over Darke Seattle. All involved have been tried, handed their verdicts, and are now awaiting sentencing.
However, before we decide the fates of these individuals, the Board of Directors found itself wondering how our neighboring nations viewed capital punishment. Most seated on the Board are in favor of the death sentence for these traitors, but I am ordering a stay of sentence for them until we can ascertain our neighbor's feelings on the matter.
We look forward to your correspondence, as well as conducting business with you in the future.

News

News

The Community of Orteil Mauvais has recently had a civil war. Opponents of the current government have fled to The Rogue Nation of The Mauvain Survivors. More on this to come soon.

The cavies of Cavy Cove can be quite voracious. We recently reconsidered legislation regarding vicious cavies and how to deal with them.

Our poet laureate recently wrote the following verse, regarding a cyclist who encountered a pack of cavies:

---

A ride in the woods in the dark of the moon Was no challenge or so it was said So I mounted my bike and I turned on my lights And away in the evening I sped.

Slicker than owl snot my drive train did run As I reached the first tulgey glade Completely at ease I passed under the trees Breathing deeply and yet unafraid.

A sudden light clicking then came to my ear And I wondered if it was the bike The volume and frequency seemed to increase And something just didn't seem right.

My crankset? My pedals? Perhaps the rear wheel? But my spokes were stress relieved I'd checked all the torques and examined the forks No fault could be conceived.

But then I remembered the horrible cavies That run in the woods at night More cunning than weasels and faster than bats My blood ran cold with fright.

My mirror was useless, it bounced up and down I carefully looked to the back Not one running there in the LED glare, not one But the whole freaking pack!

I knew in an instant the danger I faced For the cavies of the Cove are unreal Like furry piranha that scamper like rats They wanted my brand new wheel!

I knew in the morning they'd find my bones spread out by the side of the trail If I couldn't pull off a quick finesse I had to deliver the mail.

I spun and I sweated and pulled a huge gear In the face of imminent death The grade was intense and my terror immense I smelt their lettuce-y breath!

Just then I remembered that in my valise Which I'd strapped to the top of my bars I had carrots and celery and Gatorade And a couple of candy bars.

I unzipped the bag and flung out the tools Which only impeded my hand An anvil, a tow chain, a hacksaw and such And a brand new truing stand.

I hated like fury to throw out that stand But I needed to get to the food I whipped out the veggies and tossed them back It halted that Hell spawned brood.

I sat at the top of the hill and wheezed As the cavies filled up their guts I'll never again take a ride on that trail No ifs, no maybes, no buts.

Hi!

Hi! Welcome to the blog for the region of Pacific Northwest in NationStates. We welcome all nations.

We love the rain here in the Pacific Northwest. After all, without rain we wouldn't have all the beautiful forests, mountains, lakes, rivers, and clean air - all the things that make us the finest region around.

Not to mention the free cup of coffee you get *just* for stopping by. Now where else in this crazy world can you get a free cup of the world's best coffee?
